Q1) The advantages of CCT Surveillance vary. The Primary advantage is of course, as mentioned in the video, the monitoring of people around the area. In New York, this would mean less robberies and thefts. Only the daring criminals or really lucky when the screen wasn't watched will be able to commit their crime with impunity. CCT Surveillance will help the police to know when and where a crime is committed, sometimes before it even happens, and can thus take action faster than before. So, CCTV Cameras can help prevent crimes.

CCT Surveillance also allows the police to watch the streets and towns of their on-goings in case someone is attempting something illegal such as speeding or vandalism. In any case, CCT Surveillance will definitely pull down the number of crimes committed in the area that is being watched.

Another advantage is to track known terrorists and their doings. CCT Surveillance can be used to monitor their activities and know when they are about to strike. This will help the police to counter their attacks and stop their deadly plans to kill people.

Q2) The main disadvantage of CCT Surveillance is cost. The money required to install such cameras around the city will not be cheap as a large city requires many cameras. The subsequent maintenance cost must also be taken into consideration. Damaged or faulty parts will need to be replaced and cost more money.

Also, the locations in which they are placed have to be well-chosen, preferably somewhere not easy to spot or areas that can see blind corners too. This will allow more areas to be monitored. A good position is required because as Joel has said below, a person may be aware of the cameras around the area and will try to avoid being detected by them.

CCT Surveillance also has its social costs, namely, the intrusion of privacy of innocent citizens. Moreover, the absence of cameras will cause the person to think that he is not being watched and think that it is safe for him to do whatever he wants. This, of course, means the intrusion of innocent peoples' privacy. Given a choice, most of us do not like being watched by CCT Surveillance because of our own reasons. Some would think that the Police are watching them because they are doing something illegal, while others would think that the Police have no right to see what they are doing and where they are going. This causes uneasiness in the people and they will feel that the streets are not a safe place to be in, after all.

Terrorists and known opponents may also hack the system and thus gain access to the cameras themselves, and this will allow them to gain valuable information about what the police are monitoring. In the case of terrorists, it will allow them to know when best time to strike.

P.S. If Q3 and Q4 are required, please tell me, I've got all 4 of my answers at hand, but I was told by Keith that only 2 questions are required.
