I guess that everybody would protect their love ones, especially those that are closer to me like my family. They are the ones that hold dearest to me. in times of trouble, i would consult them and seek their opinion. They also give me a sense of security that no one can ever provide me with. this sense of security is worth having even it means to have lost all of my assets. The comfort and the joy, my siblings and parents, my aunt and uncles. We have been through hardships and enjoyable moments together. together, we form a portrait a wonderful portrait that only our family has. it is complete and cannot be broken. when one of the member is gone or away, this portrait would not be perfect as it used to be. together we are one, we endeavored all the way. Regardless rain or shine, we would still be together joined forced and no one will be able to separate us. My parents unyielding love for me makes me feel at ease. there are times when i make mistake and fail, but everyone makes mistake, no one is perfect. their care and concern for me i truly appreciate.

Of course, i would defend my loved ones and my friends, in order for that to happen, we got to protect the country's well being. Singapore was the one that brought me up and i will surely do ll means and ways to protect it.
At the same time, i agree with russell that Singapore will not give up without a fight , because all of the memories are from Singapore and i definitely do not want to see it fall.
- Nicholas Quek(2e-26)
Well, the things that I hold most dear and would protect are my family and friends. Without these people, I might not be typing this text anyway. Well, the reason for protecting family would be they had been there as long as I existed in the world. They had gone through thick and thin with me and I am grateful to that always. My friends are also worth protecting. They have provided me the environment to have experiences and I know they always there to support me in what decisions I have to make. These are people have built my character and nurture my aspects in life. These are the people I want to protect. The last thing I would protect is my country’s culture and uniqueness. The country has provided millions with the environment of peace and kindness of over 43 years. This country has also played a part in contributing to building ourselves and we are adapted to its uniqueness. Our “Singlish” has been one of the many that made up our Singapore culture; therefore I would protect that culture. Everyone got their own to protect, well this is what I will protect.
A reply to lionel's post: I agree with you that our country has done a lot for us, giving health care and defense. Well, the country has blessed us and we are in debt. That's the reason people want to protect, so that we are not indebted. To protect we need the strong favoritism for our country, in other words, being patriotic. That would be the real reason we would protect. Done By Kaiser (33)
I will defend my family, country and friends. i would defend my family as they were the ones that brought me up and suffer the grief and pain that i have caused. i would defend my country as this is my birthplace and it is where everybody that i ever know of here. i would also defend my friends as i grew up with some of them and they were the ones that cheer me up at times. they also give me moral support to drive on. i agree with jin jie as our family is the one that brought us and most probably be the closest to us. they love us as much as we should love them back. they are also the ones which we'll be spending most of our time with in our life.
Shamus Tan (31)
i agree with samuel when he said "To me, i feel that Singapore is very important to me. My country, my birth place, my home." there would be no other place like singapore. we need to do our very best. "i bet that if Singapore is in that position again, they would not give up without a fight because all our memories are from here, if we lose our country, what will be left of those sweet memories?" Singapore is where mine heart belongs, i will not want to see it fall.
-russell
I will most likely defend my friends first as they help me become who i am right now. They have influenced my thinking and have stayed by my side in my times of need. Therefore, i am in their debt and will consider them the most important thing to me. Yeo Tee Yang
I would defend my friends, my family and lastly my country. My friends as they were they ones that we lived in brother hood and endured hardship together. Without them, I may not be what I am today. My family as they were the ones that showed me love, care and concern. My country as it was the one that let me lived in peace and harmony. Living in Singapore is a privilege, as it has many citizens which care about Singapore well being making sure that it will be protected from enemy intruders I agree with joel’s post that We should defend those we love, and in order to defend our loved ones, we have to defend our country. Singapore is privileged to have the racial order that we have currently, and hence we should protect our sunny island with everything we got.

I feel that if I had chose one thing in my life to defend, I would defend my country. Because if I had not been born under such unique circumstances, I would never have the opportunity to experience life the way I did. I feel that to be born in Singapore, the Lion City, the land of perpetual peace, is a gift from god. Without the stability in our country, we would never have had the chance prosper and life a happy life. In Singapore, our government is not corrupted, caring and have the welfare of the people at heart. It is our government that led Singapore towards greatness and worldwide recognition of its harmonious society. To live in a country with good defences, education, healthcare and economy is to have an immense head start in life compared to people from other countries. I consider myself privileged and extremely lucky to be a citizen on such a fine land. Lastly, I think of Singapore as an Island of tranquillity in a sea of turmoil and I would defend its right to exist and help people. Done by: Lionel Wong (38)
I would defend and protect my friends, neighbors and lastly my country. My family and neighbors are the people that i grew up with and therefore, they are important to me. They were the people that comfort me when i am sad, encourage me to try harder when i fail, these people will always be there with me through the thick and thin, be it cheering me up when i am down, or sharing jokes. These people mean the most to me.Thus, i would go to great lengths just to get them safe from any danger.
I would defend my country as that is the place i grew up from, the place where i have been living peacefully without having any fear that there may be natural disasters coming our way. Compared to other countries with disasters and fights occasionally.
I disagree with glenn blaming the Merlion for the downfalls that are happening in Singapore. What you are doing is blaming the Merlion. So do you mean to say that before Singapore was founded, the whole Singapore population was constantly getting sick from deadly viruses.
Dylan Kho (10)
If there is one thing i would defend, it will be my life. Most people will say family, friends, etc.I beg to differ,I chose my life because if my family died, i know that they will wan me to live on happily not to mourn over them.My parents would sacrifice their life for me, so i know that whatever happens, my life is important to them so i must treasure it.If my family died, i find foster parents, if my friends died, i find new friends, if my country died, i will rebuilt it.So everyones life is important. To sacrifice one's life for another is just plain stupid, as he or she's life is equally important.
And i agree with keith :My friends as they were they ones that we lived in brother hood and endured hardship together. Without them, I may not be what I am today. My family as they were the ones that showed me love, care and concern. My country as it was the one that let me lived in peace and harmony. Living in Singapore is a privilege, as it has many citizens which care about Singapore well being making sure that it will be protected from enemy intruders, but to do all these things one must protect oneself so he could protect others, if he or she can't protect himself, how can he protect others By Raphael(21)
If i got a choice, I would definitely save my parents, friends and country.
i would save my parents as they were the ones that brought me up and make me become what i am today They had sacrificed their time to accompany me when i was a child and spend money on things that i wanted My parents are the one who taught me basic manners, teach me the do's and don't and prepare me for my future. Even though sometimes i disagree with them, i do know that they're trying to help me and hope that i change.
I would also defend my friends. My friends helped me and cared about me. Without them, i will be lonely and have no one to share my feelings with. A life without friendship is terrible and lonely as it is essential to our well being. I would defend them if anything happens to them.
Lastly, i would save my country. I am considered lucky to be a Singaporean. Our country is least prone to disasters as we're surrounded by other nearby country. Singapore is also very safe. There's very little violence, unlike other country. I would definitely save my country as this is where i grew up and gave me a safe environment to study, work and live in.
i agree With willie that "Singapore is also the least corrupt country and an advanced society, which makes me appreciate the every moment being able to live in this pleasant environment which is a huge contrast to people who is living in third world countries going to bed with empty stomach all night."
WE, Sinagporeans, should feel lucky that we're in such a peaceful and safe country.
RenYi ( 34)
It is a hard choice as there is a lot of things that i want to defend. If i got a choice i will pick the merlion than anyone else. The merlion is a important thing to singapore Ever since the merlion was struck by lighting there is a lot of problems in singapore! 1st the H1N1 2nd the economic downturn and now people dying because of H1N1. So the merlion is the most important thing of singapore of course people lives are just as important.

i would like to comment on willie seah' s post. i agree with him as we are very fortunate to be living in singapore which have a suitable environment for us to live in and is a safe country.hong jin jie (14)
i will defend my family as my family is the one who raised me up, give me a good life to live in and teach me the rights and wrong. i will also defend the people i know as they guide me through my life and help me when i am in need. most of all i will defend my country which i live in so it is my duty to protect it. hong jin jie (14)
I would like to comment on Joshua Ng's post. I do not agree about Joshua saying that he should return their favour buy defending them. I think that it shouldn't be just returning a favour but even if they did not do anything for us we should still do what is right. And we should not be protecting something for another thing in return like what Joshua say which is to protect Singapore because it provides food and home. He should actually not do thing for anything in return. -Shawn Tan(35) 2E
I will defend my family and friends and my country ans without my family, I would not be in these world and they have brought me up to do the right things so these is what I should do with is do protect everything no matter what. I will protect my friends because they have help me and made me know what is friends and what friends can do for one another. And lastly the country which provided me a safe environment to live in so it is also my responsibility to protect and defend it. -Shawn Tan(35)2E
In times of threat or crisis, I would strive to protect my family. This is because they understand me best. My parents especially, are the one who had changed my life for the better the most and taught me about do’s and don’ts at young. Is a kind of family love, which nobody can replace or substitute it. Freedom is also an important aspect of my life. I hate being ‘trap’ for instant having a curfew in Singapore when you can’t go out but to stay at home felt with uncertainty. Singapore is really a blessed country and we should not take granted to it. Therefore, ‘We must ourselves defend Singapore’. Singapore is also the least corrupt country and an advanced society, which makes me appreciate the every moment being able to live in this pleasant environment which is a huge contrast to people who is living in third world countries going to bed with empty stomach all night. A comment to Daryl. I agree with your perception. The every aspects of Singapore like education and medical care are better than my place of birth that I find myself lucky to be here. What I treasure most in life is my family and following which, my country and the people I know, and therefore they are the most vital aspect of life is to fend for them throughout my existence.
My kindred is the key to my life, if they were to have not existed, neither I would have been able to breathe or even catch sight of this world. Therefore I value them no matter who or what they are, they will always be the devisers of my success, the bearer of my wishes. The provision of everything I ever wanted was never denied for their purpose was to cultivate me into an honorable structure, which I can never for grant. Thus such priceless gifts are not to be forsaken, making it an obligation, a compelling mission, a promise never to be shattered. My country is the origin of what I would call home, without it, the dreams of the nation would never be fulfilled, including my own and those around me. It is also a valueless and luxurious gift to me for originating here in an advanced society. As the provision of endless food supplies and diversions are always available. More crucially, it is the land, which bloomed me into an aspirant figure many had wished. An environment which many had craved for but never been able to reside in. My enemies are also a large role to insulate for they are the ones who brought anger and vexation, unforgettable memories who would revamp and doctor me into a finer caliber. Although they may not have any positive relations with me, however the express of negative opinions would also strengthen and compromise me for who I am. Accompanying my every movement and gestures are nonetheless my companions who usually have undergone situations thick, thin and slippery situations in conjunction with me. An unexplainable sentiment that would always reside warmly within me. An epitome, and a character to always defend.
In conclusion these three figures are under my vow of fortification that would never astray from my protection in the near future.

------------------------------------------- I would defend my friends and family. The people who stood beside in all my life as a Singaporean, they are the ones that make Singapore a colourful environment to live in. Singapore, a place where people of all races get together, Singapore, a place where people can have possibilities we have never imagined. Singapore, the place i would defend in times of a crisis, whether i defend in words or actions, Singapore is my homeland and it is my duty as a Singaporean to protect it to the last stand
This is the reason why i agree with Joshua Ng. We should defend those we love, and in order to defend our loved ones, we have to defend our country. Singapore is privileged to have the racial order that we have currently, and hence we should protect our sunny island with everything we got.

I agree with Joel about defending Singapore as we Singaporeans are proud of who we are and we should return the maximum we received from Singapore, therefore we should defend Singapore with pride and honor for who we are and why we do so. This is also because we are Singaporeans by heart and it is only evenhanded that we protect Singapore from ourselves, true Singaporeans instead of foreign soldiers.
Being given every opportunity to shine, we should intern and help Singapore, as Singaporeans, for our loved ones and to sacrifice ourselves for the treasured memoirs we had in Singapore. Sacrifice ourselves not in vain but for what we had received in Singapore.

I agree with what Dominic had said that our family was the ones who protect us when we were in trouble and we should work together as a team to prevent the threat from destroying Singapore and all of us.

I will protect my family, friends and countries.Sure Singapore is criticized for being strict, but we are a unique type of people. There has been countless of times the outside world said we can't make it (eg. separation from malaysia, british armed forces pulling out, confrontation of indonasia etc...), but we did.
Sure we ain't exactly the "free" and "liberal" the US talks about, but do you see any violence to minorities? Lets face it, Singapore is almost racism-free. Look at Malaysia; once we entered their country, their top political party (UMNO) started propaganda talking about how malays get mistreated.
This country truly is a gem in the world. It is worth protecting from threats, whether it is the bigger countries picking on us, terrorism, or a war. Theres no where else in the world you can see this type of progress. Look at Myammar. They come out of the British empire the richest, now they are pathetic. We came out the poorest, now we have one of the highest PPP in the world.
...To:everyone I agree with your view of saving your family and friends, because that is your sole reason for protecting singapore.

I will protect my family as they are the ones who took care of me when I was born and gave me all the support, care and love . I will protect Singapore as this is where I belong , where I grew up in , where I am a Singaporean.

i agree with julius as much, family and friends are important just as it is for our country. i feel that protecting the country would equal to protecting my family and friends. we would gain honour and valor for a noble thing to do if we would protect our own country. By Ben.
I will defend my family , my brother and all of my friends. even if ihave some enemies in primary school i will also defend them, they would not deserve to die. i will defend my family for they were the ones who helped me when i was in a crisis and that i had to go for an operation once. my family and friends are dear to me as they have encouraged me for a long time and supported all i have done. my friends have helped me in school work and also in daily life. I agree with Calvin. Defending the country would be like defending everyone, and we should all try to defend the country to increase our capabilities. Every person is important, we should all save each other.Labels: Joshua Ng

I agree with Junn wei. We should be willing to give up our lives for friends and family as without them our life will be but an empty shell

I agree with what Sean ang has said. I will also protect the people that i love and those that who has brought me up to where i am today because if they are not there for me, life is meaningless for me, the stress will also be great because there is nobody to express my feelings and probably break down due to over depression. I feel that we should protect what belongs to us and shall always stay the same. If we don't protect it, we will be suffering from hardship because of the poor government skills. We must stay united to defeat the opponent although we might be lacking in the number of soldiers but we have the skill and the equipment to defeat them. Wei Jiong
I would protect my country, friends and family. After all, they are the most important people in our lives and have helped us through many difficulties. We would not be what we are here today now if we didn't have them, and by protecting them it would be returning the favour. As for our country, it is the place we live in. Without the suitable living environment in Singapore, our needs such as food and our home would not be available. Protecting it would help maintain this suitable condition.Labels: Joshua Ng
Like the others, i would protect mine family and friends. They are the most important people in mine life. I would do everything to protect the ones i love.

what i would protect are my family and friends. my family because that they are the ones who brought me up and know me from the day i was born. my friends as they are the ones who brings me up when i am down and encouraged me the strive for my beliefs and lastly my philosophy in life, this philosophy has been with me for a while and i overcame a lot of obstacles using this method, without this i would not have even cared about the people living in the world, i would probably neglect the people who care about me the most.

i will protect my family, my friends and my principle. i will protect my parents as they are the ones who brought me up to be the person i am now. i will protect my friends so that we can look forward to more happy moments in the future to come. i will protect my principles as without them i will be living a meaningless and dull life.

i would strive to protect my friends and family intimes of crisis as they have been supporting me through hard times. Singapore is my homeland and i will risk my life just to protect it.
I agree with Calvin on what he said we should not panic. Being calm in this kind of situation will ensure that we make rationale decisions. Being violent will cause more harm than good.
I agree with Dominic as our parents shield us from all danger when we were young. They even brought us up so all the more we have to be filial and repay their kindness. We also need qualities which are said in his post to win the battle.
- Norman Yap (39)
All of us must help to defend Singapore as one if anything atrocious happens to our homeland. If we do nothing and run away, we would just end up losing our only home. Everyone should also do his or her part in helping out when such a crisis happens.
I agree with Tristan's post as in times of war, many countries would be affected, and our alliances would not be able to help us, and we have fight on our own.
-Wen Chi (24)
i would strive to protect my parents and siblings in danger and defend them as they have been the ones protecting from "dangers" and they have been supporting me in whatever i did without fail and furthermore singapore is our homeland and we must protect it from any incoming danger. To win the fight, we must have teamwork, good preparation plans and machinery.
Done by Dominic
i agree with calvin that we must keep an intruders off singapore as this is our homeland. we cannot afford to have people taking over it after so many years of hardwork from sir stamford raffles. We must work together like i said in my post to help singapore get together as a nation and fight off the enemy. Life could get worser if singapore were to fall into the hands of the enemy. Hence, losing is not an option.-Shawn Chua Yi Rong(08)
To me, i feel that Singapore is very important to me. My country, my birth place, my home. When times of war like in 15 feb(WW2), the british did not do anything as they know that it is not their homeland. i bet that if Singapore is in that position again, they would not give up without a fight because all our memories are from here, if we lose our country, what will be left of those sweet memories? they will be turned into a living hell. So we must strive, to protect Singapore.
Like Alfred, i too, agree with Calvin. I believe that it is not one persons job to protect Singapore, but everyone. Everyone has a part to play for our Country, our homeland.
Samuel(29)
1) We have to defend Singapore as it is our homeland. If its ruled by other countries that conquered it, we would not have as much freedom as now.We must have good preparation so that we would know what to do during a war or a terrorist attack. We also must have good teamwork so that during a fight, we can perform better as we coordinate better.Lastly, we must have courage so that fear would not scare us away.
- Norman Yap (39)
In times of danger, we as citizens of Singapore would strive to protect our country. In any event of a war, we shall not run away from defending Singapore. If we run away, what would we think on Singapore, our homeland, on what it has done for us and what we done for it? Only regret.
I agree with Calvin on what he said we should stay calm. By not reacting too violently, there would not be so much chaos and we should work together as one to defend Singapore.
Alfred tay (1)
1. Every Able man, in times of war, are expected to defend their own country from any invasions. It is their job and priority to defend Singapore. Singapore cannot afford to be conquered by any other country. Every can do their part, like supplying health supplies to the army, giving them first aid etc. The UN will not always be there to defend us all the time. We must learn to stand on our ow 2 feet and defeat the enemy at all cost. -Tristan Choo (7)
1. Defending our soil from foreign invaders is the first priority of every able man in Singapore to do. Everybody has his or her part to play against such a crisis, such as putting out fires after bombing raids, applying first aid on a wounded person, or in the front lines itself, pushing the enemy back to their mainland as a proud SAF soldier. Everyone else also has a part to play even if they do not have combat roles. All the enemy needs to win is the civillian population to panic and chaos to break out deep in our lines. So everyone has to stay calm, and he/she would contribute to the effort to repel the enemy. Calvin Leong Shuo Lun (4)
1. In times of crisis and threat, we singaporeans must work together to terminate the source of threat to regain peace in the country. Although our lives maybe at stake, not all of us would be so unlucky to die in the event of an attack. Singapore cannot afford to fall into hands of another country and must remain independent but getting all the help she can get. We must defend the prime minister and his family too as without guidance and ruling over singapore, it is as well throwing money into the sea.2. For this, we need the courage, coordination and the mindset of thinking that we would win this. First, we need to have the courage to hold a gun and get prepared to defend singapore in times of crisis. Also, the ability not to divulge any singapore's defence system to the enemy or any relevant information is true courage and willing to die for that. Second, we need coordination to work together and back off the enemy. If everyone were to fight for themselves, it would mean poor military planning, resulting to the defeat of singapore. Lastly, the power of the mind is stronger than physical power as mindset would influence us on our decision of choices, to run or not to. The army defending singapore would be high spirited and ready for any attack. By Shawn Chua Yi Rong (08)
Besides fighting terrorism, digital security systems installed in public places, buses, or retail centers can deter crime, provide the police with leads, help citizens feel safer, and improve the economy of a crime-stricken area. Pirices of CCTV are not cheap, they are good for use of security.
